Dear Students/Parents/Guardians

As we are getting close to the end of the school year, I would like to remind students and parents/guardians about some important points to remember about storing/using your Chromebooks/iPads during the summer.

Please remember:

  • To store your Chromebook and/or iPad in a safe secure location over the summer.
  • The Chromebooks and iPads are the property of Hudson Public Schools and should be used for educational purposes.  The Chromebooks and iPads should not be taken on vacation or out of the country.

  • We have received documentation by Dell concerning how to prepare and store Chromebooks during the summer. Please read these instructions carefully and follow the process on how to protect the life of the Chromebook battery.  In the fall if we determine that the Chromebook was not stored properly for the summer, you may be charged for the replacement battery.  The cost of a replacement battery is $55 for Chromebook model 3189; $90 for Chromebook model 3100.

  • There are no special instructions for storing the iPad.
  • Students experiencing problems with their Chromebooks should fill out the online Report a Problem Google form. Families are asked to drop the device off at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham Street, M-F, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.  The HPS Technology department will check for repair requests throughout the summer.  When the repair is complete, an email will be sent from [email protected] informing you that the device can be picked up.

  • Students experiencing problems with their iPads should fill out the online Report an iPad Google form.
  • If a student withdraws from Hudson Public Schools, it is the responsibility of the family to return the Chromebook and or iPad (Prek-grade 1) to the main office of your child’s school.  Both the device and AC adapter, black Brenthaven bag, and mouse (issued only with Chromebooks grades 2-4) must be returned. Student records will be held until all equipment has been returned.
    • The Chromebook AC adapter must be a Dell 65W adapter.  No other adapter will be accepted.  The replacement cost for an AC adapter for Chromebook model 3189 is $30 and for Chromebook model 3100, $50.
    • The AC adapter and USB cable for the Apple iPad is $40 ($20 for each piece).

If you have any questions, please email Ellen Schuck, Director of Technology, [email protected]. Thank you.
